  • Are you an organisation working with OLDER ADULTS (AGE 50+) ?
  • Do you work with people who maybe experiencing mental ill health, or have a mental health diagnosis?
  • Do you offer activities that benefit mental wellbeing?

If so, we’d love you to join our free mental health networking workshop.

Thursday 29th June 10am-1pm – refreshments provided.

The Community Builder Team will be hosting the workshop as part of the Wakefield Mental Health Transformation Project. The transformation work is seeking to ensure VCSE and statutory organisations have a platform to work together to strengthen the mental health offer across the district.

Part of the session will focus on enabling people to explore the Community Mental Health Transformation Plans for Wakefield and have open discussions about how this could support Older Adults in the district. This will help with identifying what we may need to consider and ensure the views of the VCSE sector are incorporated into development plans.

During the workshop we will :

  • Discuss the mental health landscape for older people in Wakefield District including themes such as loneliness and bereavement.
  • Explore the Community Mental Health Transformation Plans for Wakefield and have open discussions about how this could support Older Adults in the district.
  • Reflect on communication between services and explore how we can join the dots, so voluntary & community organisations feel more involved and valued.
  • Explore the future of older people’s services in Wakefield District and Age UK’s proposed ‘Centre for positive ageing’ to be located here in Castleford.
  • Have open discussions about your organisations training and support needs, any barriers/issues you’ve identified through your work both for yourself as organisations and for your participants.

This is an opportunity to come together with services and other voluntary & community organisations to help shape the landscape for older people in Wakefield moving forward.

Feedback from our previous workshops has already informed changes and pilot funding adaptations for increased sustainability in our sector. We hope to continue this movement and ensure you feel your time and opinions are valued.
