Age UK Barnet’s Silver Sunday returns on 4 October 2026 and the programme is shaping up brilliantly for the borough’s biggest celebration of ageing well.
 

“Last year’s event brought together more than 800 older residents - the biggest Silver Sunday celebration in the country and the largest event for older people in Barnet,” says Helen Newman, Chief Executive of Age UK Barnet. “The programme for 2026 is coming together really well, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back.”

This year’s celebration will feature everything people loved last year, including live music, dance performances, workshops, health checks, advice sessions and a lively disco. New for 2026, the event will also include a vibrant merengue session, adding even more energy and colour to the day.

Attendees can expect a full programme of talks, information stands, friendly advice, and free refreshments - all designed to support wellbeing, connection and confidence in later life.

  • 10 top tips for healthy ageing from someone who knows - by Senior registrar in geriatric medicine at Barnet Hospital, Dr Wakana Teranaka

“Silver Sunday is a joyful reminder that older people are at the heart of our communities,” says Helen. “It’s about coming together, trying something new, meeting people and feeling valued. The atmosphere last year was incredible, and we’re excited to build on that again.”
