Hi from the Jubilee.

We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.

Reopening Age UK Bury services and shops

Like many of you, we are doing our best to understand the Government’s plan to return to normal.

None of our services will begin before July at the earliest and we suspect it will be later than this. All announcements about opening up will be made in this newsletter, on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

In our plans to reopen, we will place the health and wellbeing of our members, staff, volunteers and tutors as the number one priority.

Tai Chi classes go online

Sue is now holding a Tai Chi class online on Fridays at 11.00 am. This class is aimed at those who attend the 12.15 Tuesday class and 11.00 Friday class at the Jubilee. (We are planning a class for beginners soon). The first one took place today and it was great to see our friends.

You will need the free Zoom app on your ipad, iphone or any android device. Please download this beforehand and create a free account for yourself. If you have problems with setting up Zoom, call us in the office and we will put you in touch with our local IT wizard!

Then send an email to taichi.college@yahoo.co.uk or message Sue via Facebook at m.me/taichiandwildgooseqigongbury for the access code.

This is a free class, but donations will be gratefully received.

This week marks Sue’s 20th year at our charity. We would like to congratulate Sue and thank her for all the support she has given to our members over the years.

Ring and Ride

A reduced Ring and Ride service will be resumed on Monday 18th May to provide essential journeys in line with government advice. There are restrictions with this service. For example, it will be a kerb to kerb service with no assistance provided to passengers from the drivers when boarding or alighting the vehicle. You must therefore be able to board and alight the vehicle and secure your seat belt without assistance.

For full details about this service and other bus services, go to https://tfgm.com/coronavirus/bus

Donations of goods to our charity shops

At the moment, we are unable to accept donations or collect bags from your doorstep. This is because materials like plastic can carry the coronavirus for up to 72 hours and we have nowhere safe to store items in the shops. Please put any donations to one side and we will collect them when it becomes safe to do so.

Banking

This useful article from Which UK explains how banks are helping older people with banking during the lock down by offering cash deliveries & dedicated telephone numbers.

Clarence Park Lido

With the change of government policy, the red warning tape on seats around the Lido has now been removed, to allow people to sit down and enjoy the glorious view.

Make to your own face mask

Facemasks will be the new fashion and it is relatively easy to make your own facemask.  There is a wide variety of videos on You Tube with simple instructions on how to make facemasks, some examples below.  For those of you that don’t sew, there are videos on how to make ‘no-sew’ masks from recycled t-shirts.
