Greetings from the Jubilee Centre.

I hope this email newsletter finds you well. In this week’s edition, we bring news about our new gift-aid scheme at our two charity shops, Christmas activities, services that may support you or your friends and …drum roll please…the names of the winners of our 100 Club. Happy reading.

A new Gift-Aid Scheme at our two charity shops

Our two charity shops at 91 The Rock and Bridge Street in Ramsbottom are now operating a new Gift Aid scheme, which allows our charity to claim on the goods we sell.

Gift Aid is a simple way to add 25% to the value of your donated goods, without it costing you a penny. For example, if you give us a nice dress which we sell for £10, we can claim £2.50 from the government.

When you next call at the shop, please ask our staff to show you how to sign up. It is a quick and easy process, and it will help us raise extra funds to support older people in Bury.

Gift Aid can also be claimed on donations of money – please contact Michelle at the Jubilee Centre for more details by phoning 0161 763 9030 or emailing admin@ageukbury.org.uk

Triple Lock Update

On Wednesday 19th Oct, it was announced at Prime Minister’s Questions that the triple lock on pensions would be honoured, in line with the Conservative Manifesto of 2019. The next day, Liz Truss announced her departure and by Wednesday 26th Oct, Downing Street was refusing to commit to raising state pension at the rate of inflation.

It is thought the issue will be resolved in the Autumn Statement which will now take place on 17th November.

If you want to write to your local MP about this, their contact details are at this link: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/bury/about-us/news/concern-about-the-state-pension-triple-lock/
