Duty to Ride

Published on 05 May 2023 05:25 PM

Sunday April 16 was a spectacle to behold at Duty to Ride in Pembrokeshire.

Starting at Carew Cheriton Control Tower at 11am, riders travelled 50 miles around Pembrokeshire before returning to the Tower, to remember Age Cymru Dyfed veteran service user Gordon Prime.

Hugh Morgan of Veterans in Voice at Age Cymru Dyfed said,

"Today we are here to remember Gordon Prime. Vintage motorcycles from across the UK arrived today to commemorate him and other veterans. The Duty to Ride campaign which is launching today is being run by the Veteran's Motorcycle Club of Great Britain to raise funds for a memorial at the National Arboretum and to pay tribute to all our despatch riders, police, blood carriers and so on, who gave their lives to public service."

Age Cymru Dyfed CEO Simon Wright said at the event;

"Age Cymru Dyfed supports the over fifties in the three counties of West Wales that make up Dyfed which includes veterans. We are delighted to support the Duty to Ride event and the Vintage Motorcycle Club to raise money for a memorial to be situated at the National Arboretum, to celebrate the lives of all those despatch riders and others who have served their country so well."
