Age UK has launched its own election manifesto to encourage prospective parliamentary candidates and the next Government to discuss and debate the issues affecting older people and ultimately put in place measures that will improve the lives of the older population.

The Age UK Manifesto calls for policy changes in other matters relating to later life such as ending pensioner poverty, the importance of secure, warm and decent housing, and the need for a high quality and responsive Health Service.

They want to put pressure on the next Government to fix the social care system and save the free TV licence for all over 75s.

The campaign team is focusing on health, care, money, housing, loneliness and inclusion.

If a candidate knocks on your door, you meet them in the street, you attend a local hustings event, it’s a great opportunity to make your voice heard. When speaking to candidates, you might find Age UK’s Election Manifesto a helpful guide to explain the kind of issues people face and our vision for later life.

The better informed you are, the easier it will be to make your decision on December 12.
