Support George in the London Marathon

Published on 13 March 2023 11:47 AM

We are very pleased that George will be running for Age UK Barnet in this year's London Marathon on Sunday 23 April, raising money to help us improve the wellbeing of older people in the borough.

Even for the fittest of individuals, running 26.2 miles is a huge challenge, requiring a signifiant amount of physical and mental endurance. So we are incredibly grateful to George for his commitment and dedication to our cause and the huge effort that is going into preparing for the event

'Although I thought I was fit, this has been a lot harder than I expected, says George. 'Training is full on but I'm ticking off lots of miles!'

He says the hardest thing is getting his work-life balance right. 'Managing work and getting in my runs has been tough,' he says. 'And when it feels like a mental struggle to keep pounding away on a run, what keeps me going is the idea of completing something I've always wanted to do for a cause I feel passionate about!'

'And afterwards it feels so good when put my feet up and rest!'
