'I've learnt the power of being present'
Jas Verdi volunteers in our kitchen helping to make delicious and nutritious meals for our dementia day club.
“Volunteering has been one of the most grounding and rewarding parts of my year so far - I can put my hand on my heart and say it has genuinely changed me.
“What I’ve gained goes far beyond the practical skills. I’ve learnt the power of slowing down, listening, and being present. I’ve seen the commitment of volunteers who show up week after week with kindness, humour and compassion. Their dedication is inspiring and has changed me and my motivation for a fast paced job.
“Volunteering isn’t just about helping others, it’s about what it gives back to you. I’m grateful for every conversation, every shared laugh, every panicked moment (will we get the food out on time and right) and every meal that has made someone’s day a little brighter.”
