Spring BBQ!

Published on 17 August 2022 05:23 PM

On 15 May, we held our first ever Spring BBQ, and we're still recovering from the whirlwind of excitement! Despite some interventions from Mother Nature, we had a lovely turnout.

We had over 160 attendees, and you were all so friendly and kind. We enjoyed spending the day with everyone, and we hope you got a chance to enjoy some delicious food, meet some new people, and learn about our work in Hammersmith and Fulham. We saw some familiar faces but also met many new people eager to get involved in our work with older adults. We hope everyone had a great time!

We were thrilled to see many people, including MP Andy Slaughter, newly elected Youth Mayor Ben Ruzbehan and Deputy Niamh Faleye, Cllr, come out. PJ Murphy.

It was our first event of this type, and we have learned much about what worked and what needs improvement. You were all a massive part of making this event a success: With your support, we raised an incredible £2,837.49!

This wouldn't have been possible without you, and as always, it was an honour to host our community members at the event—our clients, volunteers, trustees, staff members and sponsors.

Thank you to all our volunteers who worked hard to make this event a success. They did everything from making food to supporting clients on the day, and we couldn't have done it without them.

We also want to thank our sponsors Visiting Angels and Walfinch, for their support in making this event happen. Thank you for believing in us; we make a great team!

Finally, thank you to our trustees, Robin, Alexandra, Seema, James, and Amanda; it's always a special treat to spend time with our board members who came out on their own time to help us welcome everyone to our space!

Before we leave you, we would like to celebrate our fantastic Fundraising Manager, Sarah Cashman, who worked tirelessly on the event. We've never seen this many people show up at one of our events before, and she deserves all the plaudit —it was a terrific time.

If you couldn't make it out but still want to support us in our mission to support people over 50 Love Later Life through services tailored to their needs and interests, please consider donating at the top of this page.

Having you all join us for a day of fun, food and learning was an absolute pleasure. Sarah and the team are already planning our next event, so stay tuned and watch this space!

Love from,

Team Age UK H&F
