Age UK Somerset is a leading independent charity in understanding, supporting and promoting the interests of older people in our area.
We are now seeking a new Chair of Trustees and also have a vacancy for another Trustee due to forthcoming retirements. We wish to invite applications to join our board from enthusiastic and motivated people who share our commitment to the charitable aims and core values or our organisation.
As Chair, you will offer Board level leadership that enables the organisation to fulfil its purpose, and you will be fully conversant with Charity Board responsibilities.Ideally, you will have experience either from a similar role or within a relevant field. You should also be willing to represent the organisation both locally and as part of the wider Age UK brand.
As a Trustee, you will develop an understanding of your responsibilities towards compliance, prudence and care, working with the Chief Executive to ensure that the organisation has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction. You should be prepared to give the necessary time for reading Board papers, attending around 5 day-time meetings each year and keep yourself informed about the charity’s activities.
Whilst these are voluntary, unpaid positions, essential out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
