Age Cymru’s response to the Commissioner for Older People’s report: A Place to Call Home: Impact & Analysis
Age Cymru’s interim Chief Executive Victoria Lloyd said:
“We welcome the Commissioner’s report and share her concerns regarding the lack of information from local authorities on what services are available to older people living in care homes.
“People who live in care homes have exactly the same rights to NHS care and specialist services as people living in their own homes. Residents should be able to access falls intervention programmes as there are many simple things that can be done to reduce the risk of falling.
“We also support the Commissioner’s call for the Welsh Government to do more to ensure consistent approaches across the care home sector.”
