Media Invitation Age Cymru - A spotlight on mental health of older people in Wales

Published on 16 April 2024 07:31 PM

Join us as we shine a spotlight on the mental health of older people and the variety of initiatives taking place across Wales

We wish to invite you, or any of your magazine colleagues, to our in-person event called A spotlight on mental health of older people in Wales which is being held at the Neuadd in the Senedd buildings (Welsh Parliament), Cardiff Bay on 18 April 2024 from 12pm to 1.30pm.

In our most recent annual survey with people aged 50 or over in Wales, 20% of respondents told us that poor mental health has been a challenge in the last 12 months. Older adult mental health support has been overlooked for many years, and we know that older people can face multiple barriers to gaining the support they might need.

The event aims to promote good mental health and well-being of older people in Wales by raising the mental health profile of older people, fostering discussion, and sharing good practice.

The event, kindly sponsored by Mike Hedges MS, will not only explore the mental health of older people across Wales but will also showcase the various initiatives taking place through a joint presentation from Age Cymru Powys and Care and Repair in Powys, and a presentation from Carers Wales.

In addition to the presentations there will be an opportunity to network and view information stands relevant to older people’s mental health.
