Gwanwyn event at Bridgend Men's Shed

Published on 13 May 2016 08:30 AM

A Bridgend men's group will be playing musical instruments they built themselves at a special performance on Friday 20 May as part of our Gwanwyn festival.

For the last 12 months, members of the Squirrel's Nest Men's Shed have been making ukuleles and mountain dulcimers - a stringed instrument from the Appalachian Mountains in North America.

Now they're getting ready to play their home-made instruments for the first time in public at an open day at their base at Unit 38 of the Tondu Enterprise Centre in Bridgend.

They're also inviting other ukulele and mountain dulcimer players to come along on the day and perform with them.

"We'll be kicking off at 11.30am, playing our instruments and there will be teas and coffees and sandwiches cakes and snacks", says Robert V of the Squirrel's Nest.

"We'll also be showing off some of the things that we make in the shed, including the ukuleles and mountain dulcimers.

"And if you've got your own ukulele or mountain dulcimer, please bring it along on the day and join in the fun."

If you want to come along on the day, please contact Alan at the Squirrel's Nest on 01656 729 625.
