Age UK has a Board of Trustees to monitor Age UK's strategic objectives. The Senior Directors work closely with the Trustees to carry out the day-to-day running of Age UK.

Sir Brian Pomeroy (chairman)

Brian has been a Trustee of Age UK since February 2017 and became Chairman in February 2018. He is also Chair of its Strategic Finance Committee.

He was formerly the senior partner of Deloitte Consulting and senior independent director of the Financial Conduct Authority. Current appointments include President of the Financial Inclusion Commission, chair of HM Treasury’s Action Group on Cross-Border Remittances and a director of the Social Market Foundation. He is a non-executive director of QBE Insurance Group.

Past appointments include chair of the Financial Inclusion Taskforce, chair of Centrepoint, chair of Homeless Link, chair of the European Public Health Foundation and chair of Raleigh International as well as chair of the National Lottery Commission and the Gambling Commission. He served as a member of the Lloyd’s Charitable Trust and of the Money Advice Trust for whom he now acts as an Ambassador. He was a member of the Disability Rights Task Force.

Brian has a strong interest in issues related to ageing, including past engagement with Age Concern and Help the Aged.

Sharon Allen

Sharon has worked in the public and voluntary sector, social care and supported housing sectors for more than 30 years.

A qualified social worker and housing professional, Sharon became Chief Executive Officer of Skills for Care in 2010, having previously been CEO of a large social care and supported housing organisation.

Sharon is a member of the Think Local, Act Personal (TLAP) Programme Board and Chair of Operations Committee of the CHS Group (Housing Association) in Cambridge. Sharon was awarded an OBE in June 2015 for services to social care, homeless people and housing.

Anna Bradley

Anna has been a Trustee of Age UK since February 2017 and will be bringing a consumer or user mindset to Board conversations and the new Customer Committee.

She is a longstanding advocate of consumers and users of service, having started her working life at Which? and subsequently been CEO of the National Consumer Council. She has since Chaired a number of consumer organisations including in telecoms, water, and pensions, and was the founding Chairman of Healthwatch England.

She has wide experience of regulation; she was the Consumer Director at the Financial Services Authority and has subsequently worked closely with regulators in water, rail and telecoms. She has also chaired professional regulators in legal and health services and was a Board member at the Care Quality Commission.

This experience of working across service areas will mean she will be able to bring some expertise on several of the issues that especially affect older people, particularly in health and social care

She lives in South East London with her husband and has two grown up children.

She spends her spare time doing yoga, Pilates and swimming to keep fit and healthy as she grows older.

Mike Dixon

Mike Dixon has been a trustee of Age UK since 1st October 2017 and is a member of its Strategic Finance Committee.

Mike is the Finance & Operations Director of the Charities Aid Foundation since 2008. He is also a trustee of Future Care Capital.

Mike trained as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse where he worked for 12 years with a range of major international businesses. He joined HSBC Insurance Brokers, a large international insurance broking group in 1993, where he was Finance Director for seven years and Chief Executive for a further seven. He was also a non-executive director of Assurex Global, the world's largest privately held insurance broking partnership from 2002 to 2005.

Mike was until recently a trustee of Addaction, one of the UK's leading and largest specialist drug, alcohol and mental health treatment charities and was Chairman of Addaction's Audit & Risk Committee. He was also a non-executive director of Surrey Community Health, the provider arm of NHS Surrey between April 2009 and March 2011. He was the Chairman of the Audit Committee.

David Hunter

David Hunter has been a trustee of Age UK since 2012. David is Chair of Age UK’s Audit and Risk Committee.

David qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC before joining 3i, the private equity group where he became Managing Director of the Investment Management Group.

David’s interests in venture and social investment include Chair of the Investment Committee of the Care & Wellbeing fund backed by Big Society Capital and Macmillan Cancer Care and Chair of the Audit Committee of a listed venture capital trust managed by Livingbridge . David is also Chairman of UCL Business plc, the commercial management company responsible for University College London’s technology spinout and licensing operation.

In the not for profit area, David is Chairman of the Investment Committee at Paragon, a large South West London housing association and a member of the Remuneration Committee of the Diocese of London Fund.

David’s interests include sailing and the theatre.

Mark Lunney

Mark is a local brand partner chief officer based in Merseyside and has been a Trustee of Age UK since November 2016.

His work locally with older people offers extensive insight to the trustee board of what matters across the network, what works well and what impact locally Age UK makes. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Mid-Mersey and Co-Chair of the Age England Association, Mark acts as their representative on the Age UK Board.

Mark has extensive experience of working in the public, private and charitable sectors. Initially working in the Armed Forces, he is a Chartered Manager (CMI) and member of Association of Chief Executives (ACEVO) holding a comprehensive knowledge of HR, finance and employment law.

He has undertaken several volunteer roles; a Magistrate within his local community, School Governor and Vice Chair on the board of governors with a leading NHS trust.

Suzanna Taverne

Suzanna has been a Trustee of Age UK since February 2017.

Suzanna has worked for cultural and educational organisations in the public sector as a Trustee of the BBC, Operations Director of Imperial College London and as Managing Director of the British Museum. She is a former Chair of Gingerbread – the one-parent family charity - and has been a Trustee of the Design Museum and the Shakespeare Schools Festival.

In the private sector, she has worked for media and financial services companies, including Pearson, Saatchi & Saatchi and The Independent and as a non-executive director at Nationwide. She is currently a non-executive director of Ford Credit Europe Bank and a Trustee of StepChange Debt Charity.

Suzanna has a strong interest in the way in which digital and demographic change are reshaping our lives and is particularly concerned to see that the digital revolution supports the independence and well-being of older people.

Nick Wilkinson

Nick Wilkinson began volunteering for Age UK as a Non-Executive Director of Age UK Trading in 2011. He serves on the Strategic Finance Committee, and became a Trustee in June 2014. In his business career he has lead retail businesses in the UK and the Netherlands. He is currently the Chief Executive of Evans Cycles, the UK’s specialist cycling retailer.

At Age UK he particularly supports the development of the charity’s social enterprises and trading activities – helping Age UK to provide high quality products and services which directly benefit old people, as well as providing funds for the charity. He is passionate about Age UK reaching its full potential – as a charity, as a brand and as an organisation - to deliver more for older people in a rapidly changing world.

Nick is married with three teenage children. Outside working in the commercial and charity sectors, Nick is an enthusiastic mountaineer, cyclist and cook. He has a degree in History from Cambridge University.
