Philanthropy

By giving a significant gift of over £5,000 to Age UK, you are part of making a difference to older people where you live, as well as nationally and internationally, so everyone can feel included and valued, at every age.
Thank you for your interest in supporting Age UK. We rely on the kindness and compassion of people like you to make a lasting impact on the lives of older people across the UK.
Age UK is here to change how we age. From providing specialist, impartial advice to research and campaigning, we’re determined to improve the experience of getting older in the UK – now and in the future.
In partnership with people like you, we can build a society where older people are included and valued.
How your support can make a difference
By giving a major gift to Age UK, you can help us to provide crucial support for older people like Sheila when they have no one else to turn to. Watch her explain the difference we've made to her life.
What your donation could achieve
£5,000
could help Age UK answer more than 412 calls from older people to our Silver Line Helpline
providing them with immediate comfort and companionship.
£10,000
could fund the Age UK Advice Line for a day
giving expert advice on everything from benefits to home adaptations, community care to bereavement.
£25,000
could help Age UK make over 1,600 telephone friendship calls to older people through our Telephone Friendship Service
ensuring that no older person spends their days in silence.
£50,000
could fund over 400 benefit entitlement checks
on average, identifying £4,000 in additional income each year for older people who are struggling to make ends meet.
£500 per month
over the course of a year, could fund weekly friendship calls to 12 older people
from a volunteer befriender through our Telephone Friendship Service.

Family giving
We would love to talk to you as a family about the impact you can have across the generations and work in partnership with generous family trusts to create long-term, substantive change to the way we age.
Structured and planned gifts
We work with a range of established giving structures and vehicles, including:
-
Donor-advised funds: It’s easy to donate to Age UK through a Donor Advised Fund, such as CAF, NPT, Prism or your bank’s own Donor Advised Fund. To do this, request a grant distribution from the fund administrator, and quote Age UK either by name, or our registered charity number, ‘1128267’.
-
Gifts of shares or other assets:We can facilitate gifts of shares through the platform Sharegift. Please get in touch with Cathy Drew Beresford, Philanthropy Lead, for more information.
-
Leaving a gift in your will: leaving a gift in your will to Age UK means older people have the support they need for years to come. Please contact Legacy team for more information.
Make your gift go further
When you opt in to Gift Aid your donation, Age UK can claim an extra 25% on top of the amount you donate through the Government Gift Aid Scheme, at no extra cost to you.
This means, for example, a donation of £10,000 from you could potentially be worth as much as £12,500 to Age UK.
To qualify for gift aid, you must be a UK taxpayer and need to have paid enough UK income/capital gains tax in the tax year your gift was received to cover all the Gift Aid donations you made to charity that year.
Age UK can only claim Gift Aid up to the basic rate of tax (20%). However, if you're a higher rate taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation to Age UK even further by reclaiming the difference between the basic rate of tax and the highest rate of tax you’ve paid directly from HMRC.
Read more about the Gift Aid scheme and complete an online declaration. If you have donated to Age UK in the past, completing a declaration now could mean we can claim Gift Aid on your previous donations. Please contact us for more information.
