Age UK Stairlifts are provided by Handicare Accessibility Limited
Straight or curved stairlifts with quick installation and outstanding customer service.
The pleasure of going up and down your stairs whenever you like, may seem like a small thing to some, but it’s a big part of staying safe and keeping your independence.
Age UK Stairlifts, provided by Handicare, offer a carefully selected range of stairlifts designed to help you regain that simple pleasure – at a reasonable price.
To provide a made-to-measure service, a trained technical surveyor can visit you at home to assess you and measure your stairs, explain the product options and provide a written cost quotation supported by a price-match guarantee. There’s no hard sell and no obligation, just a simple explanation of your options.
If you have any questions, or would like to book a free, no-obligation survey or consultation, simply call 0800 566 8435.
If you have a straight staircase, there are three stairlifts to choose from. The Simplicity stairlift is ideal for narrow staircases and can be cost-effective, while the Age UK 1000 stairlift offers a range of additional features
The Simplicity Plus Straight Stairlift adapts to fit you (for example the controls of the lift on the side which is most accessible to you) and your staircase and has an easy to use manual swivel chair which ensures safe disembarking at the top of the staircase on every journey.
The Simplicity Straight Stairlift can have a manual hinge or a slide track if required. Features of the Simplicity Series Straight Stairlift include:
Every stairlift complies with British and European standards and is ISO quality-approved, so you can be certain that, whichever you choose, it will be safe and reliable.
If your staircase turns corners or spirals, you will need a curved stairlift. The following curved stairlifts are made to order after a survey of your individual staircase.
If your stairs are curved or even if you have a spiral staircase there is a solution for you. The 2000 Curved Stairlift is modern and versatile offering one of the tightest internal bends currently available on the market.
This flexible and user-friendly curved stairlift can accommodate the most complex of staircases and can even travel around 90 and 180 degree bends.
You can select both the seat colour and seat type with the 2000 Series Curved Stairlift. This means that the stairlift will not only suit you and your home but also your decor.
Every stairlift complies with British and European standards and is ISO quality-approved, so you can be certain that, whichever you choose, it will be safe and reliable.
When you reach the top of the stairs, you’ll need to swivel the seat to get off safely. There are two options:
To make sure the staircase is clear for other users, the footplate and seat can be folded up.
All stairlifts come with two remote controls – one to leave upstairs and the other downstairs. This lets you move your stairlift without sitting on it, parking it where you want or calling it like a lift.
Some houses have a door near the bottom of the stairs, so Handicare can fit a hinged track to avoid blocking the door. These hinged tracks come in two options
If you’re having a straight stairlift, it can be fitted with a slide track. This means you won’t need a hinged track as it moves up and down the staircase at the same time as the seat.
Just like the powered hinge, the slide track works automatically when your stairlift is activated. The slide track is slightly shorter than your staircase so this means the track will move with you.
Below are a few of the questions customers often ask about Age UK Stairlifts;
A. It’s a common misconception that stairlifts are installed to the wall. This is not the case, the stairlift will be installed on the staircase itself. The technical surveyor will advise which side of the stairs will be most convenient for the stairlift to be installed on.
A. If the stairs are straight it will normally take around 2–3 hours. If the stairs are curved then it will take half a day.
A. These stairlifts are designed to operate to the speed governed by British Standards. This is equivalent to a gentle walking pace.
A. Handicare do not repurchase stairlifts as the product is bespoke to you and your property. They can however remove the stairlift free of charge if the stairlift is under three years old. They can also advise on how to help resell the stairlift privately to either an individual you know or another third party.
A. Your local authority provides information on Disabled Facilities Grants and is obliged to give you this if your circumstances fit the criteria. You can pick up an application form from your local authority. Please note timescales from one area of the country to another may vary and this is a means-tested service.
A. Yes – the best time to replace your carpets is before the installation takes place; however this can be completed after installation if necessary. A price guide for this service is £250 if the removal and refit is completed on the same day and £350 if it involves removal and reinstallation on two separate days.
An Age UK Stairlift provides real value. Not only do Handicare, provide high quality and reliable stairlifts they also provide a no-quibble price promise. If you find a similar product with equivalent specification and service levels at a lower price, let Handicare know and they will happily match it. Please note however that they can only match prices obtained following a site survey conducted by a reputable company, not those based on a verbal indication of price given by another company without surveying the staircase concerned.
For your additional reassurance, the Stairlift Price Promise is valid up until the day that your stairlift is installed.
Why not find out more about the benefits that a Handicare Age UK Stairlift can provide, by calling the customer service team on 0800 566 8742.
If once your stairlift is installed you decide it is not suitable for your purposes, please let Handicare know within 14 days of the installation date. They may then, at their discretion, carry out additional works or alterations to address the issues raised. If after completion of such works you are not satisfied and you still wish to return your stairlift you should then confirm your decision to Handicare in writing. On receipt of such notice they will arrange a full refund and make arrangements to remove the stairlift during normal working hours. Please note, however, that they cannot guarantee fully to make good all works to your property carried out during the installation process and that this offer does not apply in the event of bereavement when Handicare will not buy back goods from you. This offer does not affect your statutory rights.
