No one should have no one to turn to
Help us be there for older people who need us most, so we can provide them with the support they need. People like Colin...
Colin was heartbroken when his wife Joan Ann died. He was left alone and uncertain who could help with the many questions he had, about his loneliness and the future.
"Although there were lots of friendly people in my community, I didn’t want to burden them with my sadness."
That's when Colin got in touch with Age UK.
After his wife's death, Colin received information through the post from Age UK. He looked up the charity and read about the Age UK Advice Line.
When Colin called the line, the adviser sensed he was at a low ebb, desperate to speak to someone about his loneliness.
The adviser Colin spoke to recommended Call in Time, Age UK's free telephone befriending service.
He was matched with a befriender. The two have since become so close that Colin says she's like a daughter to him.
We were there to help Colin, but there are millions of older people waiting for our support. Our services address the issues they experience. Donations like yours help us to provide for them.
