In June 2018 Age UK Trading CIC ended its relationship with Claritas Hearing through which it previously offered hearing tests and hearing aids.
In December 2018, Claritas (formerly known as UK Hearing Care) went into administration, which is a type of insolvency, and ceased trading. This means that customers who bought a hearing aid from Claritas or UK Hearing Care, including Age UK Hearing Aid customers, will no longer be able to get any services from Claritas.
As is usual in these circumstances, the Administrator has been working to find a buyer for Claritas’ assets. Although Age UK Trading CIC was no longer working with Claritas, customer care has always been our priority and we have been in close contact with the administrator throughout this process to understand what these changes mean for customers.
We understand that Amplifon, another hearing aid company, are offering to provide ongoing support services for Claritas customers. Customers with servicing or repair needs can contact Amplifon on 0800 44 33 44. You can find more information about what Amplifon are offering to former Claritas customers on their website.
We also understand Amplifon have purchased customer contact details from the Administrator so they can contact former Claritas customers and let them know about their offer. We understand Amplifon will attempt to contact former Claritas customers.
If you do decide to use these services, please make sure you check the costs of doing so as it will be outside of the arrangements you had with Claritas - for example, we understand that Amplifon charge a fee for home visits.
