Virgin Money London Marathon 2020

Runners at the London marathon

Do something amazing

Make a crucial difference to the lives of older people and be part of the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon with us.

Please note: the Virgin Money London Marathon has been postponed and is now scheduled to take place on Sunday 4 October 2020.

Running the Virgin Money London Marathon is an unbeatable experience for seasoned runners and first-timers alike, and fundraising for charity makes it even more special.

Unfortunately, all of our charity places for this year have already been snapped up. But don't worry, there are still ways you can be part of Team Age UK.

Whether you're a runner with your own ballot place, or someone who wants to make a difference by volunteering on the day there's a place for you on the Team.

About the London Marathon

When: 4 October 2020

Where: Central London

Distance: 26.2 miles

Why: Change people's lives

I have a ballot place and I want to be part of Team Age UK

If you've got your marathon place already, why not help Age UK support more older people who are facing later life alone?

Whatever your goals and whatever your running experience, everyone's welcome on Team Age UK. There's absolutely no fundraising commitment - we'd love you to just raise what you can.

What we can offer you

  • Personal fundraising support and advice.
  • Age UK running vest and fundraising pack.
  • Training support from our Age UK running coach.
  • Team Age UK training day.
  • Age UK Pasta Party the day before the race.
  • Energetic cheer points along the route to keep you going.
  • Exclusive access to our buzzing post-race reception.

If you want to be a part of Team Age UK, please drop us an email and we'll help you get everything sorted.

Email us - we'd love to hear from you!

I feel passionately about helping older people and want to do what I can to ensure they love later life. Helping to combat loneliness is something I want to be a part of.

Ashleigh | Team Age UK runner

I'm not a runner but want to get involved

You don't have to run the marathon to be part of the Team - you can still do your bit to help change lives.

We don't just have people running, we have people dotted all along the course at special checkpoints cheering on the runners.

It's a great way to volunteer and really make a difference. The louder the better.

Supporter cheering on marathon runners

I recently lost my nan. She was my biggest supporter and now I want to do something for her. Something she would be proud of.

Lucy | Team Age UK runner

Why run for Age UK?

When someone's deperately lonely and just needs to hear another voice, we're there for them.

When they've lost the person they love the most, we're there to help them find the strength to carry on.

When an older person is forced to live in a freezing house because they're worried about the cost of heating, we give them the support they need to regain control.

We're here because everyone deserves a place to turn to when times are tough.

And with the support of people like you, we can continue to be there.
