A new survey from Heriot-Watt University released today (Tuesday 24 April) found that people across the UK expect their memory to worsen in their 50s.
Commenting on the findings, Caroline Abrahams, Charity Director at Age UK said:
'This is an interesting piece of work that confirms that loss of thinking skills is one of people’s greatest concerns when it comes to growing older. There is no magic formula for staying mentally and physically healthy in later life but a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, a balanced diet, not smoking, enough sleep and an active social life are all important factors.
'Like our bodies, our brains and thinking skills change with age; for most people, some change isn’t a sign of something more serious but anyone who is worried about their thinking skills should visit their GP.'
