Age UK’s 300,000 Steps in June Challenge

Challenge yourself to walk 10,000 steps every day in June. Whether it’s a walk to the shops or a long hike in the country, every step counts and will help raise vital funds for Age UK.

Plus you’ll even receive a free t-shirt for taking part. Join our Facebook group to get involved. If you have any questions, hopefully you’ll find the answer below. 


I just signed up, now what?

Firstly, join the Facebook Group we set up for this challenge. Click 'Join Group'. Once you're in, you can get your t-shirt, get tips, be inspired and find out anything you need to know about the challenge!


How do I keep track of how many steps I've done?

There will be a downloadable ‘Step Tracker’ sheet available in the Facebook group, which you can print and fill out with how many steps you do each day in June.

We’ll also include a copy of this in the t-shirt packs that we’ll send out to everyone that raises money for Age UK.

If you have a Fitbit or Garmin watch, these are ideal for counting how many steps you are doing. Or you can use an app on your phone like Google Fit or Pacer which are free apps that we recommend for this.


What if I don't complete the challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. Do as much as you can. Every step helps.


How do I raise money?

Facebook Fundraisers are the easiest way to raise money. You can set one up in a few seconds here and click ‘Raise money’. And then it's really easy to share the page with your Facebook friends.


Where will my friends' money go?

Directly to Age UK. You don't have to worry about this. By using a Facebook Fundraiser it all happens automatically.


How do I get my free t-shirt?

Once your Facebook Fundraiser has received its first donation you can fill out your details on the form here and we’ll put your t-shirt in the post to you. Please allow 10 days for it to arrive.


Can I start before or after 1 June?

Of course!


Can I just raise money offline?

Absolutely. Once you have collected all of your donations you can then pay them in to your own bank account and then pay them in here, selecting ‘I'm paying in money for an event, fundraiser or collection.’


Do my daily steps count? / Can I do this on a treadmill? / Does my walk to work count?

There are people of all levels of fitness doing this challenge. The important thing is that you're doing something that challenges you. This will vary from person to person, so tailor the challenge however you like. It should be tough, but doable. You should feel satisfied when you finish it! And we appreciate every single step that you do to help Age UK.
