Social housing information guide

Social housing is housing provided by social landlords – councils and housing associations. Our guide can help you apply for social housing if you think it’s the right option for you.

This guide explains social housing and clears up some common misconceptions surrounding social housing. It covers:

  • how to apply for social housing
  • your rights as a tenant
  • passing your tenancy on
  • transferring your tenancy to somewhere else.

It also lists useful organisations that you can contact for further information and impartial advice.
