Information and advice
Age UK Selby District offers a free and confidential information and advice service for older people, their families and carers.
When it comes to social care, pension or legal advice, knowing where to look for help can be a nightmare. Age UK Selby District has a confidential advice and information service to help not just older people, but also their families and carers.
Our trained advisers can help with a number of issues, including finding a care home, getting support at home and how it’s all funded.
If you’re worried about your income and need assistance in applying for benefits, attendance allowance, pension advice or to see if you are eligible for other benefits, then we have someone to help. We predominantly assist people who are of pensionable age, but can sign-post others who may need help when necessary.
We can also provide information on staying warm at home, how to prevent falls and to adapt your home to make you feel safer and more able to get about in your own home.
Legal advice can be expensive; so if you need to talk to someone about getting a Lasting Power of Attorney, our experts can draw them up at a fraction of the cost of our competitors and all monies go back into helping older adults in our district. We can also offer information and advice on wills and have a wide variety of booklets and on-line information.
Our I&A officers are available for pre-booked telephone consultations. You can request an appointment to speak to one of them, by calling 01757 704115, between 9.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday, or you may also request further contact by emailing: linda@ageukselby.co.uk.
