Leading the way in our Platinum Year

Published on 25 February 2019 11:50 AM

James Buckle - Chair of Suffolk Community Foundation Over 50 business leaders and representatives gathered at Wherstead Park on 31st January 2019 to celebrate their involvement with Age UK Suffolk’s “Platinum Friends” scheme – a corporate engagement programme set up to recognise business support in the county, alongside raising vital funds and awareness for our charity.

The focus of the scheme has been to not only encourage more businesses to pledge their support and gain an understanding of the charity, but also for us to give something back to these businesses who have shown their commitment to social good

Jo Reeder, Head of Fundraising & Marketing for Age UK Suffolk said “It can be difficult sometimes for charities to give something back to their corporate supporters, and also challenging for a charity to find something different that will engage with businesses in the communities in which they operate.  Through Platinum Friends, we have managed to tackle both of these issues in a positive way and are looking forward to extending the scheme for future years".

The event saw a packed programme of key note speakers, challenges, networking and workshops, looking at softer business skills andAnglia Care - one of our Platinum Friends issues that all organisations should be aware of, including “The importance of being dementia aware in your business”, Brand Identity Essentials, Personal Profiles and how they can benefit your teams, and The benefits & challenges of an older workforce.  The event was opened by James Buckle, Chair of Suffolk Community Foundation, who spoke about how important the third sector is to business & community.

The day concluded with the launch of Platinum Plus –  the extended membership scheme that the charity will run for future years to recognise corporate engagement  The scheme will encourage networking, volunteering and skillshare as well as an easier route to fundraising opportunities for both the businesses involved and the charity.

Platinum Plus will start from April 2019.  Business interested in finding out more about how this could benefit their business should get in touch with Lindsay Long on 01473 288050 or email
