Write your Will and support Age UK Suffolk in 2020

Published on 07 January 2020 03:51 PM

It is estimated that only one third of people in the UK have made a Will. We can never be sure what the future may bring, but what we can do, is ensure that by planning for your family’s future, your family can take comfort in the fact that your wishes are being carried out.

Age UK Suffolk’s annual Write a Will Scheme is a great way to get your affairs in order, and support a local charity too.

The scheme offers excellent value to people who are looking to make their Will for the first time, or revise their existing Will, with a set donation being paid to the charity, so that you know exactly how much your Will is going to cost you from the outset.

If you are considering making your Will, or perhaps your Will needs updating, the scheme offers both single and mirror Wills, giving individuals and couples the opportunity to choose their solicitor, subject to availability.  Each partnering solicitor will donate a number of Wills free of charge to Age UK Suffolk – the number of Wills available varies between each solicitors practice, so it’s advisable to have a second choice in mind, but all represent excellent value for money and the assurance that yours and your family’s future is protected.

The scheme is available to people from all over Suffolk during February, and all monies raised through the scheme will be spent on vital and often life-changing services and support for thousands of older people across the county.

Donation fee: £100 for a single Will, £150 for a mirror Will.

What do you know about Lasting Power of Attorney (LPAs)?

An LPA is a legal document that lets you appoint one or more people to help you make decisions or make decisions on your behalf, should you be unable to. This gives you more control over what happens to you if you have an accident or illness, or cannot make your own decisions. There are two types of LPAs - health & finance - so you can choose to make one or both. LPAs are really important documents that can protect you and your loved ones should the need arise.

This Will Month, we are also running an LPA scheme, where our participating solicitors are reducing their fee by 10% (excluding VAT) with the client donating that 10% to Age UK Suffolk.
